我是中南财大的数量经济学专业的，现在研一，也不知道可以做些什么事
导师让我们看完《经济学》之后看下蒋中一和Green 的书
软件呢，也只会SPSS、MATHEMATIC，想学matlab和eviews...
学校里也没有项目，比起其他的专业真是无语。。。
大家这个专业的同仁都是怎么学习的啊？
请指教一二啊！！！

for a master student, with econometrics, i think you can not expect too high. some empirical analysis should be enough.

well, if you have a really good supervisor(I do not think so), you may do some theoretical econometrics. But this probability is rather low.

I do not know exactly what does 数量经济学专业 mean, I am in Econometrics.

and it is always a good idea to learn some statistical tools such as gauss, matlab with which you can feel at ease with new econometric models as long as you would like to spend the time.

把matlab学好，你可解决计量中的所有问题！很多人学GAUSS或Stata只是求方便。虽然我不太用matlab了，但我知道瞧不起matlab只是一种无知。

数量经济学只是有中国特色的学科，包括数理经济学和计量经济学，我想要译成英文吧，可以是mathematic economics.

对于zhaosweden的观点，但是有一点不同，就是学习使用matlab的主要目的是自己动手编写程序以理解如何把计量经济学的方法（算法）用计算机语言来实现，以进行科学计算。而后，在开发新算法以后可以很轻松的实现，从而避免了现成软件包缺乏新算法的困境。这特别适合于进行计量经济学研究。对于Gauss的认识，我觉得zhaosweden有些偏见，它也可完成同样的工作。当然，如果只做应用工作的话，一般常用的软件包就够用了。

同意楼上的观点，关键在于思想。由于我在用STATA，所以想补充一句，真正用STATA的人基本上都“不会”使用它的菜单，而是完全采用命令的方式。而且据我所知，它几乎可以完成所有你想完成的工作。不过，诚实地讲，有些功能的实现是要费些脑筋。我的一个台湾的朋友作MCMC，全是用它在编程。

还是那句话，重要的在于思想。

本人是东财数量经济的，觉得数量经济用 quantitative economics 比较好一些。我们用的软件是EVIEWS。本人在学习过程觉得最重要的是打好经济学基础，记得有位经济学前辈说过，要想在经济学上做出成就，没有五年的经济学基础是相当困难的。现在这个专业所讲授的课程是给我们一种工具，而经济学是思想。有很多人（包括本人在内）在学习过程中往往急于求成，夹杂着的围城心态更加助长了这种比较茫然的情绪。实际上这是比较正常的现象，只要我们静得下心来，踏踏实实做学问，必定是“三年不飞不鸣，一飞冲天”。共勉！

regarding the software, the idea is that choose some, and use it. But in practice, you must consider some other elements. Such as the fact that my supervisor, my supervisor's friends, my supervisors' previous phd students, they choose, GUASS, so for me it is always optimal to use GUASS.

Take an example, I got a set of GAUSS source code of kernel density of nonlinear grids which is part of my current topic. So It depends on your own situation.

Another critical difference between using packaged software and eay-to-program one is that sometimes you may think that you have understood the econometric model and put the data into Eviews and click to get the results.

In many cases, it turns out that it is not. For example, In Eviews with EGARCH model, Eviews takes a shor-cut in hanling the expectation of the absolute z(t). If your intereste lies in the alpha and beta's, their size, their sign and trying to give some economic intuition, then it is OK. On the other hand if you are going to simulate the model after parameter estimation, this subtle point becomes noticeable.

I still insist that for Chinese master student (of course good student and good univ) in 计量经济学, it pays off to make their own code to implement the econometric model since they have ample time of study.

It depends on your major and filed.

At my current deparment(Economic Statistics), none of the prof. s and PhD students use eviews and the like. Some people may need to learn only because they need to teach the undergraduate student.

(sorry for 漠中麾, i am not blaming anyone, just trying to provide some info.)
