CARDS的由来:"Back in the day", SAS only ran on mainframes and the only way to get a SAS program into the computer was to use punch cards (also known as Hollerith cards after the inventor, see Punched card - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ). Therefore, CARDS; was the natural term for getting data to the program that was inline with the program.

个人觉得CARDS的用法与datalines没有区别,都是借助input 在data step里直接录入数据. 在support.SAS.com里检索CARDS会直接reference到datalines
