阿德里安•戈兹沃西在牛津大学获得古代史博士学位，曾在多所大学任教。他著作颇丰，被翻译成十几种语言，包括《奥古斯都：从革命者到皇帝》《西方的没落：超级大国罗马的灭亡》和《安东尼与克利奥帕特拉》。他创作了五部小说，讲述拿破仑战争时期一群英国士兵的命运沉浮，其中最新一部是《驱 敌靠岸》（Run Them Ashore）。他目前是纽卡斯尔大学的访问学者。
