In.formation on household size, age, and sex of the U.S. population is incorporated into the Almost Ideal Demand System through adult equivalent scales. Estimates for an eleven and four commodity food system are compared with their per-capita counterparts. Inclusion of demographic information results in more theoretically and statistically consistent parameter estimates.
