Compared with the ordinary university students, these impoverished students endure more economy and psychological pressures, and they have more problems about psychological heath. Therefore, we must understand and grasp the psychological condition of impoverished undergraduates, and the higher education institutions and the whole society should pay attention to develop the mental health of impoverished college students from different ways. This paper reviews and summarizes the basic concepts such as mental health and impoverished students in university, and analyzes the psychological problems of impoverished undergraduates from the aspects of psychological environment, cognitive ability and values, emotional feelings and the environment adaptation. According to the psychological problems of impoverished undergraduates, we analysis the causes of psychological health issues arising from the families, institution of higher learning, society and impoverished undergraduates’ inherent issues. Finally, we proposed the solutions for the impoverished undergraduates’ psychology issues from the aspects of the social security system, the construction of campus culture and psychological health education.
