We have had tremendous success with Groupon around the world as the fastest growing company at all times (http://www.forbes.com/forbes/201 ... ext-web-phenom.html) which Google recently tried to acquire (http://techcrunch.com/2010/12/06/local-groupon-google/). Headcount raised from 6 to 150 after 14 days on Chinese ground. 1000 employees are to be hired by March with the aim of becoming market leader by May 2011).
The joint venture with a internet business leader here in China, in addition to expertise in running the business model in 42 countries (very successfully!!) as well as an outstanding management team (all of which have worked in leading investment banks / consultancies and/or founded their own businesses prior to joining Groupon) as well as a very very solid funding will make us achieve this target. We will basically transform from a startup into a corporation within 2 months. This is the most exciting, rewarding and joyful work anyone could ever dream of.
Yes, there are critical voices about “another international company screwing up as Amazon and eBay did”. We therefore rely on a mixture of people with experience in running the Groupon business model, a strong JV partner as well as 50% management positions filled with super smart Chinese professionals. This is where you factor into our success equation! We are looking for very smart, talented, ambitious people with a strong interest in entrepreneurship to join the management of Groupon. Groupon is currently valued at around 6bn USD (according to the press) and are are offering a very exciting, flexible, entrepreneurial job opportunity with a lot of responsibility and freedom to grow a huge, successful, fun and creative company.
After some training (max 3 weeks) you will become a Leadership Development Manager responsible for more than 50 people, budget and performance in a Chinese area of your choice. From there, career opportunities can take you anywhere (People here have worked in 3 different countries in the past 2 months - which is the sort of experience one usually gets after 6-7 years at a consultancy). Short-term internship is also welcome.
