今天收到一封来自印度本科生的来信，请求暑假实习机会，请大伙帮忙分析一下。

Dear Sir Chen,
I am a Pre-final year undergraduate student of the Material Science & Engineering Department of IIT Kanpur. I would like to apply for a summer internship under you for the summer of 2012. At your convenience, I would highly appreciate it if I could be taken under consideration for the stated internship.
I have been highly interested in problem solving and numbers for a long time. I had an amazing experience of such kind last summer when I did an internship at the Liluah Carriage & Wagon workshop of the Eastern Railways, Indian Railways under Mr. Rajesh Agrawal, Chief Workshops Manager, Eastern Railways. Here my objective was to enhance the outturn of the workshop's wheel and bogie shops and improve the quality of production of the shops by first doing a complete system analysis of the shops, recognizing problems faced by the units and sub units, designing a flow system for material flow within the shops and designing a complete layout of the shops. In the course of the project, I learnt techniques like PERT and CPM and dealt with interesting real life problems which made me very interested in pursuing this area of knowledge.
Due to my newfound interest in this field, I started reading journal papers to get an idea about the current research problems and the opportunities in this field. I came across your research paper " agile supply chain design model based on 6-sigma management " and found it particularly interesting. I am very motivated and open to work under any other topic of Operations Management. Working under your guidance will definitely contribute a lot to my knowledge, skill and experience in this field which I wish to pursue further. Thus I would be highly grateful if you could offer me a chance to work under you or any of your ongoing projects.
Sir,should you require any more information, I would be glad to provide. Curriculum vita is attached along with. I will be working on the summer Internship during the vacations of my Institute. I will be available from the 10th of May till the 10th of July,2012.
