请问大家Lecturer和assistanct professor的区别
在国外网站上经常看到这样的称呼

Hello,

The main job of a lectuer is teaching. Usually a lectuer teaches one to three classes per semester. The class can be a large class, which has 300-600 students. The lectuer is responsible to supervise his graduate teaching assistants and teach the whole class. Sometimes the lectuer can teach a small class of 50 students in the evening for special needs of working students. (personal: my boss is a lectuer)

In contrast, an assistant professor should be a tenure-track faculty that means he or she holds a permanent job position. Besides teaching one or maximum two classes each semester, the assistant professor is responsible to conduct its own research and publish some papers in order to rank up to an associate professor.

他的升职路径是什么？

维基百科里有，不过是英文版的，好多国家的学术排名都有：http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_academic_ranks

我可以开个主贴翻译一下美国的教授等级

Lectuer的升级机会很小，排在它上面的是Visiting Professor。 不过那得开始搞点研究，虽然不是强制性的。Research 的教授一般排名高。
