一直都在用SPSS，现在似乎STATA用的人也很多，听说其功能比SPSS强大。所以从实证研究的长远考虑，是学习spss还是STATA?

不想推荐说你应该学什么，不同人不同偏好，不同人用的侧重不同。

二、你也看看在ucla看看这些教材上用各个软件做的例子，自己比较优劣。

Here is my two cents.

In fact it really depends on which area you are in. If you are doing research on Communication/Media Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Linguistics, Organizational Behaviour, among others, most people use SPSS more than Stata， But many people in the areas of Economics, Finance, or Accounting prefer Stata over SPSS. SPSS are more likely to be chosen by people who have less statistics or econometrics background and demand less programming.

Both are desgined for empirical studies. Nobody in the pure theoretical studies needs statistical packages because no empirical data are available or necessary. Those theoretical guys may need Matlab to make simulations, computations, or/and diagrams.
