<Beijinger in New York>
Today is my 4th anniversary of being in NYC. Time flies, isn't it?
99% of Chinese people believe one can pick up a foreign language easily and automatically when he or she is in that country. Well, as a person who has experienced TOEFL, GRE, finished a master degree and been working on wall street for 3 and a half years, I should tell you that's completely wrong!
And that's exactly the reason why I am writing. I do see the benefit of joining this event, with or without the credits(积分,经验,论坛币). I am not saying I don't like them though:)
Back to my point, studying English is a life long project for most non-native English speakers, if not everyone of them. It is not easy, and won't happen automatically, but it is definitely worth the effort. Being a effective communicator can considerably enhance the chance of getting a job offer and promotion, and oftentimes picking up a hot girl/guy in a bar ;-)
To wrap up, studying English is a challenging but rewarding process, and participating events/activities like this sounds like a good choice.
