Mining for Miracles
• While there is an obvious need and demand for resources to sustain
development, progress and prosperity, the vast majority of mineral
exploration and development comes part and parcel with socio-economic
benefits that go beyond local employment. Clean sources of water, improved
education, training and enhanced medical facilities are common
advancements in isolated rural areas where new deposits and mines are
being developed. But the benefits are not limited to developing nations. In
BC, we are proud to be actively involved in Mining for Miracles. Mining for
Miracles is an organization that has raised more than $10 million for the BC
Children’s Hospital over the past 20 years and is largely supported by BC
mining companies. Given the junior mining sector’s performance of late, it’s
easy to forget the positive role the mining sector plays in the world.
