First, your data generating process should be consistent with the alternative hypothesis.
Then compute the rejection frequency of the test.
For testing unit root, generate data as
y (t) = rho*y(t-1)+error
The alternative hypothesis is rho<1.
So let rho = 0.95, and apply the unit root test. Repeat this process many times, and compute the rejection frequency of the test you use (such as ADF and PP tests). You will get a number far less than 1. That means the unit root test has low power.

Size Distortion 是指在原假设下生成数据过程，然后通过检验统计量拒绝原假设的概率；而Test Power 是指在备择假设下生成数据过程，通过检验统计量拒绝原假设的概率。

另有网友回答：
size扭曲是指将大样本结论用于有限样本时，真实的size并不是名义size，如5%。

感觉Size distortion应该指这个，刚刚看到Statistics and Probability Letters 2009上Sen的论文通过两个不同样本量的Tests来说明检验的Size Distortion，这样Size Distortion应该指样本量不同时，特别是小样本和大样本状况下，拒绝概率是否仍然保持稳定，如果不稳定，说明有Size Distortion。

楼上的回答也许有误。

根据Steven Cook, 2003, Size and power properties of powerful unit root tests in the presence of variance breaks, Physica A 317 (2003) 432–448. 3楼的Liuhanzhong所讲是正确的，Cook在论文中中原假设正确时的模拟值来说明Size Distortion。

看来这个问题还需要查看原始书籍，只是计量书籍一般都不涉及这些问题。

貌似在做蒙特卡洛模拟的时候，要求计算某个系数的ols估计值在5%水平上的拒绝频率，然后这个再把这个拒绝的频率与原来的size(0.05)做比较，如果这个拒绝率小于原来的size，就说是有“水平扭曲”。。。
是这样的么？俺自己也不明白啊。求达人解释
