The probability of any event is the ratio between the value at which an expectation depending on the happening of the event ought to be computed, and the chance of the thing expected upon it’s happening.
这句话是什么意思啊？能不能请高人指点，万分感激

E(X|A)=E(XI(A))/p(A).
X为random variable，I()为indicator function，A为event。上面这句话就是这个意思。

The probability of any event 是p(A).
the chance of the thing expected upon it’s happening是E(XI(A))？我不明白E(XI(A))和E(X|A)的区别诶。。。
那应该是E(X|A)=E(XI(A))*p(A).吧？？

是E(XI(A))
the chance of the thing expected upon it’s happening.
是E(X|A)
E(XI(A))是X乘以I(A)的期望，是无条件期望，E(X|A)是条件期望。
