Abstract 1

In China,hypergamy is a socially desirable marriage but an understudied topic. Less hasbeen written on how personal traits and structural factors are intertwined toshape such marriage. Using national-survey data and employing a binary endogenousregressor probit model, this paper investigated three forms of hypergamousmarriage: women marrying men from more prosperous families, women marrying menwho are more economically established, and women marrying men with an urban hukou.

今天我们转一下阵地，学习一下abstract 的写法。第一句话，将主题抛出来，hypergamy , 其特点一定要包含一个 要么是understudied, 要么是pronounced importance 的议题。本主题是understudied,  socially desirable, 后面进一步解释还有哪些方面没有被研究，那就是how personal traits and structuralfactors are intertwined to shape such as marriage. 后面直接进入“使用什么样的数据，使用什么样的方法，研究了什么问题”的模式， using …data and employing …..model, this paper investigated …… 三个小词汇men from more prosperous families,  more economically established, with urban hukou.

We assessthe interaction of ascribed and achieved personal traits with institutional factorsin explaining these upward marriages. Particular attention is paid to the roleof hukou status in the making of hypergamy. Our results suggest that most ofrural women have to stick to endogamy within their socioeconomic category. Ascribedand achieved traits work on marital outcomes in different ways in the changingsocioeconomic contexts, mediated by the endogeneity of hukou status conversion.The likelihood of hypergamous marriage of Chinese women is largely constrainedby the role of hukou status.

紧接着就是这样的范式“我们检查了什么效应，结果显示了一个怎样的趋势或结果， 详细来说，大概是怎么样的， 总结起来就是。。。。” we assess the interaction of …..particularattention is paid to the role of ….our results suggest that ….. . 注意下这个句型，ascribed and achieved traits workon … in different ways in the changing socioeconomic contexts, mediating by …..可以用来描述中介作用的一个句型。
