矩阵与统计国际学术会议是一个系列的国际会议，会议参加者是来自世界各地的数学家、统计理论专家、经济统计学家、医学统计学家以及生物统计学家等。会议宗旨是: 展示矩阵理论研究的最新成果，促进矩阵理论和矩阵方法在统计、经济、医学、生物等领域的应用；展示统计理论、统计方法和统计应用的最新进展，为矩阵理论研究专家提供实际应用的背景。矩阵与统计国际学术会议为世界各地从事矩阵、统计研究与应用的学者建立了一个学术交流的平台。

矩阵与统计国际学术会议开始于1990年，由芬兰的坦普雷大学举办。自1994年后该系列国际会议改为每年一次，由世界不同国家轮流举办。承办矩阵与统计国际学术会议的单位必须提前两年向国际组织委员会提出书面申请，国际组织委员会对申办单位的申办条件、学术影响等进行综合考评后决定会议举办地点。上海金融学院于2008年5月向国际组织委员会提出主办第十九届会议的申请，国际组织委员会于2008年7月22日－26日在葡萄牙召开的第十七届会议上讨论并同意了我们的申请。

矩阵与统计国际学术会议根据举办时间和举办地点的特性确立不同的会议主题。第十九届矩阵和统计国际学术会议的主题是：

矩阵、统计及其在金融中的应用

The nineteenth International Workshop on Matrices and Statistics will be held in Shanghai, China, from June 5 to June 8, 2010.


The purpose of the Workshop is to stimulate research, in an informal setting, and to foster the interaction of researchers in the interface between matrix theory and statistics. The Workshop will provide a forum through which statisticians may be better informed of the latest developments and newest techniques in statistics and matrix theory and may exchange ideas with researchers from a wide variety of countries. The Workshop includes both invited and contributed talks.
