From the Director

Thank you for your support of the MIT Sloan School of Management.

I am very pleased to present the 2009–2010 MBA Employment Report, which reflects the
continued strong demand for our graduates and students. We remain grateful to our
recruiting partners, alumni, faculty, and friends for their ongoing support of the School,
especially during these challenging economic times. This past year has again proven to be a
successful year for our MBAs in their job search process. They have fared very well in
securing full-time and internship employment in extremely competitive industries and
diverse job functions.

The largest hiring industries continue to be consulting and financial services firms, with 70%
of graduates accepting a full-time opportunity in the service sector. Students also accepted
positions in High Technology, Pharmaceuticals/Biotechnology and Media/Entertainment.
Over 25% of students accepted opportunities in the manufacturing sector.

Consulting/Strategic Planning and Finance topped the list of job functions selected by MIT
Sloan students and graduates. We continue to see, however, a diversification of interest
including Operations/Project Management, Marketing, Business Development, and
Leadership Development Programs.

The Career Development Office remains committed to connecting students with
opportunities resulting in approximately 80% of graduates finding full-time work through
the School. We strive to provide a variety of methods for our recruiting partners to reach our
students, from scheduled interviews on and off campus, to a resume database, to job
postings, and an annual spring career fair. We provide personalized services to meet the
needs of the wide variety of firms that recruit at MIT Sloan. Whether you are looking to hire
one summer intern or ten full-time employees, hiring an MIT Sloan MBA for your
organization is always a great investment.
