了解新奥尔良是因为在新奥尔良读书。2008年9月份，新奥尔良在经历Kratrina飓风之后，有一次面临飓风过境，因此新奥尔良大学的网站瘫痪，估计是那一年的春季招生没有招足，就把我这个半路的程咬金给录取了。刚来新奥尔良，并不太喜欢她。一是名声不好，位居全美国犯罪率倒数第二的城市（第一是汽车城底特律）；二是很破旧，我觉得不光是因为被飓风横扫的缘故，这里的城市街道和房屋都是很破旧的，也没有多少人气；三是这里的消费比较高，光房租就要400刀，其他的大学城才200到300刀不到。四是，交通非常不方便，如果你没有车子，那你就这能等着别人有空的时候来接你了，因为这里的公交车不但一个小时一班车，而且很多地方都去不了。 但是住下来久了，你就会慢慢的体会到新奥尔良的魅力之处了。 新奥尔良位于密西西比盆地的最南端，密西西比河的入海口，南方就是充满神秘色彩的加勒比海的墨西哥湾，是路易斯安娜州最大的城市。城市横跨密西西比河，在Pontchartrain湖的南面。城市的周围到处都是沼泽地，在这里你不用费心费力的担心湿地保护问题，因为整个新奥尔良就是被沼泽地包围着，里面有很多很多的鳄鱼，如果你有狩猎证，你可以随便猎杀鳄鱼，然后拍照片出来显摆显摆。 新奥尔良在美国的城市里面绝对是一个另类。因为新奥尔良有很多她自己的东西，这些东西在其他的地方没有。 我觉得我说的总是不能体现新奥尔良的独到之处，还是看看《The Beauty of America》---《魅力美国》里面是怎么描述新奥尔良的吧。《魅力美国》这本书只有不到100页，里面就拿出来整整3页来记录、描写新奥尔良,可见其中的份量： 还是先来书中的原文吧： -----and today the entire basin is filled with the symbols and traditions of many cultures. ------今天整个（密西西比盆地）充满了很多文化的各种符号、传统习俗。 French influence is pervasive at the river's delta. The lyrics of popular songs can stray far from the spirit of their sources, but the sound of the blues, jazz, rock and roll, and country music all owe much to gospel songs,especially those in the tradition of black gospel singing. 福音歌曲已经对美国音乐产生了重要的影响。流行歌曲的抒情歌大大偏离了他们的精神源泉，但是忧伤 乐、爵士乐、摇滚乐、和乡村音乐都要归功于福音音乐，特别是那些有着黑人福音音乐传统的音乐。 continure---未完待续 后记：曾经跟上海社科院研究员高俊师弟说过，很想写一本介绍新奥尔良的书，从历史、渊源、风土人情对美国的影响等角度来写。不过可能只是梦想吧，毕竟写一本书要花一年左右的时间呢。 其实，新奥尔良是一座有着历史厚重感的城市，城市在21世界日趋破落，尤其是在Kartrina飓风之后，我们可以称之为落魄的贵族。奥巴马总统2009年曾经来到这里，承诺拨款兴建这座城市。但是她有很多的引人入胜的地方：马丁.路德.金纪念馆，第二次世界大战纪念馆，美国的海军基地，NBA的黄蜂队、橄榄球的圣徒队（2010年的冠军，橄榄球是美国的第一大球类，篮球是第二、三类吧），美国除了好莱坞，这里也有很有名的电影制片公司，新奥尔良大学有好莱坞和当地电影明星资助开办的影视专业，这里的坟墓墓地是建在地面上的，很像少林寺里的塔林，也是有名的旅游景点。这里的鳄鱼可以捕杀，喜欢冒险的人，可以体验其中的刺激。这里每周还有游船开去墨西哥湾周边的国家，让你领略其他国家的风情，还有美轮美奂的海滨沙滩，一去5天，管吃管住，才总共350刀。 新奥尔良的大学有：杜兰大学全美排名40多名，由南哈佛之称，是私立学校，学费昂贵，每年要4、5万美元；路易斯安那州立大学，排名150多名，新奥尔良大学全美排名200名左右，因为是公立大学，学费相对便宜，每年才1.6万美元，而且绝大多数学生都能拿到奖学金，至少是半奖，能免掉6、70%的学费，学校内还有很多的 打工机会，是出国学子的较好的选择。 |
