<Principle of Economics>一书第9章“Appliciation:International Trade”里有一段话“In this case, the horizontal line at the world price represents the supply of the rest of the world. This supply curve is perfectly elastic because Isoland is a small economy and, therefore, can buy as much textiles as it wants at the world price."
第10章“Externalities"中也有类似的话“ In this case, the supply curve for pollution rights is perfectly elastic,because firms can pollute as much as they want by paying the tax.
看完这两个表述我就很糊涂了~Supply Elasticity怎么可以用demand来解释呢?因为书前面我没发现这种定义与解释方法,只知道用中点法求Elasticity,再就是通过斜率判断Elastictity与1的关系,所以Elasticity背后是不是表达着其他更多的含义呢?
请那位高手帮我解答一下,我是大一新生,如果问题问得幼稚,还请多多包涵!
