所有的经济问题，涉及到的是经济区的概念。使用的空间单位越小，割裂经济区的可能性就越大，所分析的结论自然值得商榷。绝大多数研究似乎并没有讨论经济区的范围，这是一个有趣的问题。

The New Economic Geography (NEG) has made amajor contribution to economic geography theory, but it puts forward anexplanation that does not take account of the possibility that differentprocesses may be operating at different spatial scales.

新的方法。 Predictiontechniques for spatial panels (Baltagi and Li, 2006; Fingleton, 2009, 2010;Baltagi, Bresson and Pirotte, 2010), and dynamic spatial panels (Baltagi,Fingleton and Pirotte, 2010) should also enhance our model performancecomparison toolbox, enabling us to analyse the relative ability ofcompeting theories to predict observed ‘hold-back’ data.
