From technical point of view, there could not be any difference between in China or abroad. So if you seek study reports from outside, it is believed technically it would not help much. But if you try comparative study, that would make a little sense.
Given that, suggest taking Hong Kong and Singapore to be your focus housing markets. The two places have similar situations as Mainland Chinese. Similar factors present in all the regions.
One of the main factors different is social and economic system, that you could only put it in environmental variable unknown (in Stat terms). It is also tough to quantify, so that you could only do qualitatively.
