SOFTS: Sugar Jumps on Brazil Outlook; Coffee Falls to 4-Week Low
By?Marvin G. Perez
(Bloomberg) –?
Raw sugar rebounds from a two-month low on signs of declining output in Brazil, the world’s top producer. Arabica coffee falls for the third straight session on signs of ample supplies and easing expansion of the global economy.
In the first half of July, Brazilian mills in the Center-South probably processed 8.2% less sugar cane than a year earlier, a Bloomberg?survey?shows before official data later this week. After a recent frost event that caused little damage to coffee crops, forecasts show a bout of cold weather won’t be repeated, says?Stefan Uhlenbrock, senior commodity analyst at IHS Markit’s Agribusiness Intelligence.
The International Monetary Fund cut its global growth?outlook?to 3.2%, already the lowest since the financial crisis.
