A vaccine for African swine fever, the disease decimating China’s pork industry, showed promising results in tests on wild boars, but it will take more than a year to bring a product to market.

An oral vaccine was first tested in wild boars because the main problem with the fever in the European Union is in wildlife, Jose Manuel Sanchez-Vizcaino, co-author of the?paper?first published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science, said by email.
