Brazil President?Jair Bolsonaro’s ambitious plans to overhaul the nation’s pension system are falling further behind schedule as miscommunication and inexperience test investor patience on the long-sought measure.

Over the past two days, the lower house leader of Bolsonaro’s PSL party raised eyebrows by?saying?there’s “no need to hurry” on a committee vote on the bill which, according to the administration’s original timeline, should have taken place last month. The head of that committee, who’s also a member of Bolsonaro’s party, said he lacks support in his role, while lower house Speaker?Rodrigo Maia?said the government is dragging its feet.

“The government doesn’t have an organized base of support,” Maia, who is one of the country’s most influential legislators, told reporters on Tuesday. “We need to be responsible with this reform.”
