(Bloomberg) –Hog futures soared to their highest price in more than four years on Friday amid heightened expectations for Chinese buying.

A deal with China on trade could be coming in the next four to six weeks, President Donald Trump said, while African swine fever continues to spread in Asia, decimating hog herds. China saw new outbreaks recently, and Vietnam has had over 500 cases since the beginning of March.

“Traders seem more and more convinced that China needs for import will be significant and that China buyers will turn very active ahead,” according to The Hightower Report, “especially if a US-China trade deal is complete.”
