(Bloomberg) –?Top cocoa producer?Ivory Coast?plans to maintain the minimum price paid to farmers when the smaller of the two annual harvests begins next week, according to three people briefed on the matter.
Cocoa regulator Le Conseil du Cafe-Cacao’s managing director, Yves Kone, recommended to President?Alassane Ouattara?in a meeting Wednesday that the guaranteed price is kept at 750 CFA Francs ($1.29) per kilogram, said the people, who asked not to be identified because they’re not authorized to speak about the matter. The price is the same as for the current main crop, which started in October, and compares with 700 francs for last year’s mid-crop.
