Actually, I had recommended this book under the topic of "中国与日本的差距:难以置信的事实".
I'd like to share this book with more of you.
Title: The Path Traveled by Japan as a Developing Country: Economic Growth from Edo to Heisei
It was written by Ohno Kenichi, who wrote the book named "Dollar and Yen: Resolving Economic Conflict between the United States and Japan" with Ronald McKinnon (published by MIT Pr, 1997). Maybe some of you have noticed that their opinions using the gap between saving and investment to expain trade surplus/deficits had been largely employed in the debates of RMB issue.
Since the book comes from his lectures to overseas students, it is easy to read and focus more on the economic aspects. I had read the first several chapters, quite interesting. As Prof. Ohno said, the economic growth experience of Japan may play the role of mirror for China. For me, I think from this book we may be able to know more about Japan and the Japanese thinking way.
