Abstract:
Renaissance began in Italy around 1400 and lasted there until the end of the 1500s. Elsewhere in Europe it began later, and lasted until the 1600s. A central theme of the Renaissance was humanism. The greatest expression of the Renaissance was in the arts and learning. Influenced by the artistic and cultural Renaissance, the transformation of both English language and literature in this period can be seen to move away from the medieva l Middle English literature period and into the more recognizably modern Elizabethan literature. In simple terms, the Renaissance in England was caused by the spread of Renaissance learning and ideology from Italy. Literature produced during the reign of Elizabeth I of England (1558–1603) was embraced by Renaissance. This period saw a remarkable growth of the arts in England, and the literature of the time is characterized by a new energy, originality, and confidence. Drama was the dominant form of the age, and the plays of William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe were popular with all levels of society. Other writers of the period include Edmund Spenser, and Philip Sidney. Renaissance humanism contributed a lot to the literature of this period.

摘要：文艺复兴作为欧洲从中世纪向近代资本主义社会转变时期的资产阶级思想文化运动，是人类文明发展史上一次伟大的变革。人文主义是文艺复兴的核心。人文主义者不仅看到了光彩夺目的艺术作品，还寻求到了人的价值。英国文艺复兴初期只是一个学习模仿与同化的阶段。英国作家都尊意大利的彼特拉克为文学的源泉。都铎王朝时期培养的英国民族情感激励了文化的发展。随着古代文化与意大利人文主义的涌入, 英国的文艺复兴开始进入繁盛期，尤其是英国文学进入了黄金时代。这个时期涌现出莎士比亚、斯宾塞、约翰逊、锡德尼、马洛等一大批文学巨匠。从他们的作品和思想上反映出文艺复兴人文主义对伊丽莎白时期文学的影响。关键词: 文艺复兴，伊丽莎白时期文学，英国
