Department of Finance at the Chinese University of Hong Kong is looking for research assistant/junior research assistant starting from August/September of 2011. The appointee will assist in conducting research in finance, banking and capital markets and other administrative duties. Initial contract can be three or six months starting in August or September of 2011. The contract is renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement. Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including medical care, depending on the length of the contract.
Who should apply:
(i)
Bachelor's degree from well-known universities is required. Higher degree is preferable. Finance, statistics and economics majors are preferred but other major with solid training in finance can be considered.
(ii)
Strong interest in academic research in finance is required. Applicants with ambitious to pursue Ph.D. training and academic career in finance are highly preferable.
(iii)
Mastery of statistical packages (e.g. SAS, STATA, Matlab, etc.) and capability of handling large databases of financial data. Strong SAS programming skills are preferred.
(iv)
Applicants available to work for at least six months or longer are preferred.
(v)
Research experience in finance and economics and familiarity with finance data will be an advantage. Hard-working and diligence are highly valued.
