Lenovo reported 3QFY13 sales of US$9.4bn vs. GSe US$9.3bn andBloomberg consensus US$9.1bn. However, net earnings of US$205mn
were 5% below GSe mainly due to lower OPM (2.4% vs. GSe 2.8%).
Lenovo recognised a one-off gain of US$20mn and subsidy of US$77mn,
partially offsetting the weak OPM. 2013 guidance: 1) smartphone and
tablet businesses are running at a profitable level and management
expects these businesses to remain profitable; 2) OPM to grow due to
better efficiency and product mix; 3) maintain balanced ratio between inhouse
manufacturing and outsourcing.
