variouscategoriesof politicalstabilityfor a crosssectionof countries.Corruptionis
foundtolowerinvestment, therebyloweringeconomicgrowth.Theresults are
robustto controllingfor endogeneityby usingan index of ethnolinguistic fractional-
izationas an instrument.
