    1论文标题AnalysisofGenderWageDifferentialinChina’sUrbanLaborMarket2作者信息BiweiSu,AlmasHeshmati3出处和链接(比如,NBERworkingpaperNo.11000)http://ftp.iza.org/dp6252.pdfIZADiscussionPaperNo.6252,Dec,20114摘要ThispaperestimatesthegenderwagegapanditscompositioninChina’surbanlabormarketusingthe2009surveydatafromtheChineseFamilyPanelStudies.Severalestimationanddecompositionmethodshavebeenusedandcompared.First,weexaminethegenderwagegapusingordinaryleastsquareregressionmethodwithagenderdummyvariable.Then,weapplyOaxaca(1973)decompositionmethodwithdifferentweightingsystemstoanalyzethelogarithmicwagedifferential.Tobemorespecific,weprovetheexistenceofsampleselectionbiascausedbythefemale’slaborforceparticipation.WeeliminateitbyusingtheHeckman’stwo-stepprocedure.Empiricalresultsrevealthatmaleworkersgenerallyreceiveahigherwagethanfemaleworkers,andagreatdealofthisdifferenceisunexplained.Meanwhile,thisunexplainedpart,whichisusuallyreferredtoasdiscriminationturnsouttobehigherwhentheadjustmentismadefortheselectionbias.Afurtherbreakdownofthewagegapshowsthatamongalltheindividualcharacteristics,occupationsexplainthelargestshareofthewagegap,followedbytheirworkingexperience.Ontheotherhand,educationactsasacontributorfordiscriminationinthelabormarket.

    1论文标题Children,supportinoldageandsocialinsuranceinruralChina2作者信息Zhang,Chuanchua(CCER)3出处和链接(比如,NBERworkingpaperNo.11000)http://mpra.ub.uni-muenchen.de/37798/1/MPRA_paper_37798.pdfMPRAPaperNo.37798,posted02.April2012/03:44摘要MostpeopleinruralChinahavenoplansforretirementotherthantheingrainedChinesetraditionthatchildrencareforoldparents.Actuallytherearealsonosourcesofsocialsupportsuchassocialold-ageinsurancetorelyoninruralpeople’oldageforalongtimeinChina.In1992,asocialold-ageinsuranceprogram,ruralpensionprogram,wasinitiatedbytheChinesegovernmenttofirstlyestablishasocialsecuritysysteminChina’sruralarea.Theruralpensionprogramexperiencedrapiddevelopmentinthebeginningyearsbutgroundedtohaltafter1998.Sinceeitherchildrenorpensionprogramprovidessupportforelderly,weexpectedthatthesetwocanbeviewedassubstitutestosomeextent.UsingdatafromChina’s2005mini-census,wefindthatruralpeoplewhohaveatleastonesonarelesslikelytoparticipateinpensionprogramandeachadditionalsonanddaughterbothdecreasestheirparticipationrate.Moreover,theeffectofanadditionalsonismuchlargerthanthatofanadditionaldaughter.Inaddition,bothevidencefrommini-censusandChinaHealthandRetirementLongitudinalStudyshowthatpeasantsaccessingtopensionarelesslikelytorelyontheirchildrenforsupportinoldage.Thesefindingssuggestthatdemandforchildren,especiallyforsonsarepartlydrivenbyconcernsrelatingtocareinoldage;childrenandformalsocialold-ageinsurancearesubstitutesforsupportinoldage.Wethenexpectthatimplementationofsocialold-ageinsurancemaymitigateruralpeople’demandforchildren,especiallysonsandthuscorrectChina’sseveresexratiobiastosomeextent.Wetestthishypothesisusingthedifference-in-differencesstrategy,andfindthatincreaseofsexratioattheregionlevelsloweddownaftertheimplementationoftheruralpensionprogram.Overall,ourempiricalanalysisinthispaperimpliesthatsexratiobiasispartlyduetodemandingforsonsforsupportinoldageandcarryingoutsocialold-ageinsuranceinruralChinaarehelpfulinmitigatingdemandforchildrenandcorrectingsexratiobias.
